City of Franklin Parks Department: ATHLETIC FIELD WORKER (SEASONAL)
Type: Part Time

The City of Franklin Parks Department has seasonal vacancies for Athletic Field Workers. Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends. Responsibilities, generally, include:

TYPICAL DUTIES: 
• day-to-day field preparation plans

• determines installation of new infield material scheme

• installs sod, jox boxes, pitching rubbers

• applies, transplants, waters, top dresses skinned areas, installation of infield conditioners &
top-dress/leveling to alleviate undulations through direct placement of material

• create a safe, high performance infield, durable mounds, batter’s boxes & base paths

• provide affordable solutions to field maintenance problems

• should be familiar with complete infield renovations & how it relates to moistening skinned areas, applying conditioner, know when to blade, mat drag or landscape rake on skinned areas

• must be familiar with rototilling, roller & nail/screen dragging technique

• performs general maintenance tasks necessary to keep machinery, equipment and tools in operable condition
• communicates with supervisor, employees, departments, City officials, the public & other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities

• review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Requirements: HS diploma or GED required, college coursework in turf management or leisure services preferred; supplemented by one (1) year previous experience and/or training involving grounds keeping, and/or general golf course work (or related). TN DL required.
